rob_knight_fla01I haven’t had a chance to re-cap my trip out west yet, but I had such a great weekend in Florida that I wanted to jot this down. I attended the St. AugustineScapes Photography Workshop with Rick Sammon Monday and Tuesday. It was an extremely well organized event (Thanks Erin!) with 30 students. Rick was joined by Joe Brady from the MAC group and Chris Klapheke from OutdoorPhotoGear.com. The early session on Monday was focused on shooting for HDR, then we spent that evening at a horse farm shooting portraits of the riders and action shots of them barrel racing. Tuesday was more horses, but this time on the beach at sunrise!

We spent the late morning Tuesday going over HDR processing. I was honored to have Rick ask me to help answer students’ questions about Lightroom and Photomattix. Every teaching opportunity I get makes me more excited about my Costa Rica workshop in the spring.rob_knight_fla08

The workshop wrapped up Tuesday night with a stroll through the historic district (featuring a passing couple that agreed to model for the class), and Mojitos at the Columbia restaurant in downtown St Augustine.

I’ve been a fan of Rick’s work for a while, and it was great to finally get to work with him. He and I are going to teach a workshop in Atlanta next spring. Stay tuned for details!
