Hit the road with Rob Knight for a classic American road trip to explore the iconic towns, lighthouses, fishing boats, and more in Portland and Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
Costal Maine conjures images of lighthouses, fishermen, and lobster boats. Rob will make sure you’re in the right place at the right time to capture the iconic images of Maine’s rugged coast, and help you go beyond the postcard images to create your own unique photos.
The workshop will combine field work and exploration with daily lab sessions. During lab sessions, you can choose and edit your favorite images with guidance from Rob, plus the council of your fellow explorers.
“We have definite stops in mind that offer incredible photo opportunities, but we are always open to other opportunities that may arise along the route.“
The workshop will begin and end in Portland, Maine. The group will depart Portland early on May 14. Participants are encouraged to arrive in Portland on the 13th to avoid travel delays. The group will return to Portland by 4:00 p.m. on May 17.
Flights to and from Portland, ME are the responsibility of the attendee. All lodging and dinners are the responsibility of the attendee. Lodging will be provided May 14-17 for $500 per person. A hotel in Portland will be recommended upon reciept of your deposit.
This photography workshop was a great experience that provided numerous opportunities to learn more about photography and the local culture. Both the instructors and local guides are very knowledgeable and pointed out things that I would never have noticed on my own.
Skill level:
A firm understanding of your camera operations, including using manual mode, f-stops and shutter speed is helpful. This workshop is intended for intermediate and advanced photographers, but the small group size makes it a great way for beginners to learn in the field. The workshop is organized without any strenuous hiking, but some moderate walking will be involved.
Included in the workshop fee:
- Transportation from Portland, ME and back
- personalized instruction
- on location guidance
- classroom sessions
- breakfast and lunch
- final presentations
- and access to derrickstoryonline
- Any applicable park entry fees
There was so many wonderful experiences it is hard to say which was my favorite. The expertise of our instructors was really made it. Nice to be able to ask questions while working instead of a traditional classroom setting.
